During the recent 2025 AAHKS Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, the 2025 AAHKS Industry Innovation Award was presented to Stryker, SYLKE, Inc. and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. The Industry Innovation Award, now in its fourth year, is a competitive product award for exhibiting companies, recognizing cutting-edge innovation in the field of orthopaedic hip and knee arthroplasty. All industry partners and exhibitors are invited to highlight their newest products and services by applying for the award.
The prestigious award was presented in the Exhibit Hall/Learning Center to representatives from all three companies. They will also be recognized throughout the next year in various ways, including appearing on an upcoming episode of AAHKS Amplified to discuss the details of their award-winning innovation. Congratulations!

Last week AAHKS provided comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on a proposed new Local Coverage Determination (LCD) for joint arthroplasty by CGS, the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Part A and B in Ohio and Kentucky. This proposal intends to cease payments for computer-assisted navigation (CAN), CPT 20985, once it is finalized. Our comments questioned the lack of qualification for statements in the LCD and stated our lack of support for the proposal to consider CAN and robotics to be medically unnecessary and ineligible for separate payment for TJA. If your LCD proposes something similar, please let AAHKS know.
